Brett J Butler
Brett was born in Long Island, NY on Christmas day in 1971. From a very young age he has felt at home on stage, starting with a lead role in his 1st grade play (he played the King in Sleeping Beauty.) He later joined a local dance school, learned how to tap, and went on to win awards for solo performances. In High School, he continued his performing career by joining the Theater program. It was here that Brett fell in love with improv and comedy writing and performing.
Brett graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in where he studied film and television. During his years at NYU, Brett performed with many improv groups throughtout New York City. He helped create the imrov and sketch group 12 Arms to Hold You and was one of the principal writers and performers. Later, he went off on his own and founded Bathing with Toasters, a sketch comedy group that was courted by both Comedy Central and Nick at Nite. Brett has also performed off-off-Broadway as Detective Wednesday in the original production of The Cliffs of Despare written by David Lindsey-Abaire and, most recently, he was seen as Spike Lee in Who Killed Woody Allen? in NY and Los Angeles.
Brett has also enjoyed some success as a voice over talent. He began as the voice of Dr. Quinn from Sealab 2021, one of the flagship shows of Cartoon Network's ADULT SWIM lineup. He went on to do several voice overs for Spike TV, The Movie Channel, USA Networks, Showtime and G4TV. Currently he is enjoying the success of his newest sketch comedy group Slow Children Crossing
